UNPLUGGED, Baraka Gallery, July 2006, Sarajevo, Bosnia&Herzegovina.

Situation for us, a group of young and actively creative people and artists was intolerable. We desperately were needing space for work, experiments, exhibiting, researching, but in a real way, with big space for all cultural purposes and needs.

We got one day at meeting which was called by our friend, Tayfun Kesgin which in that time was opened his music label ‘’YAMAN’’ in Sarajevo. He also were doing development of ‘’Sevdalinka’’ project, Together with Michael Schroon Director of Goethe institute in that moment. Goal was to gather musicians from the whole World to play Bosnian traditional song called Sevdalinka, and to make together Album on the end. However, he told that he can easily get one abandoned space, in green area in Sarajevo city, which we, as just formed group Vizionarsko Drustvo can use for whatever we want. And that is just what was happened next. 6-7 of us get there and start to clean. Soon we got very good and very useful two barracks, great space of total area 600 m2 inside, and huge meadow outside, in park in Sarajevo called Wilson’s Walkway, in the middle of the city.

Our First exhibition inside that space was titled ‘’Unplugged’’, simply because we hasn’t had enough patience to wait for electricity problem solving.

This exhibition showing artists first reaction to the Baraka space, and one honest and full-happy express of our thoughts and emotions.

This exhibition was start of our, now four year of very exciting and romantic and very successful journey, successful in all its meanings and ways. One real and full experience, which we, and not just we, now using as philosophical/ideological map called VD experience.

This was first time in Sarajevo that one group of artist just took one space which was abandoned, and turn that space in one real Cultural Revolution, in the begging small, and latter, no one couldn’t stop it anymore.

A lot of art admirers, old and great artists, professors, parents, kids, everyone, came to tell us that they like and support our actions. For two year of doing all kind of wonders, we hadn’t problems with nobody, with police, with city authorities, no body. All of them were supported our idea and implementation of the same. In that moment we realized that Sarajevo can be a perfect place for us, and we changed our views and behaviors into a very positive and good way, in stead of having a very popular and in huge measures emitted by almost all Media negative attitudes, no utilize and no constructive critic to Sarajevo.

Demis Sinancevic, Emir Kapetanovic, Leila Cmajcanin, Muhamed Begic, Adnan Jasika, Sead Kadribasic, Samir Fejzovic, Jasmin Durakovic, Christiana Biron.
