BARAKE FOR MJEDENICA, Barake Gallery, September 2005, Sarajevo, B&H
VD supported and organized many things and we shared Baraka space with no money charge with everybody or any organization which were in need for space, or wanted to do some presentations, show atavistic movies, have DJ parties, do humanitarian Projects and exhibitions.
Barake for Mjedenica is one of our humanitarian projects, initiated and successfully finished by our artist and member, Adnan Jasika.
Mjedenica is School and house for children with special needs, and we decided to make one exhibition for these kids, and to donate all works from this event to Mjedenica School.
What to say, that was great experience to se autistic kids in interaction with art works, some of works very big and colorful, maybe that kids had much more knowledge and senses for art than many intellectuals or art critics from Sarajevo city.
All works now in theirs art depot and collection, and we still don’t know about amount that we donated, because by the time passing few of us got first success in World art market, and knowing the fact that we now entering in VD Age, that amount could be priceless.
Excerpt from author of the exhibition concept:
This exhibition is fruit of the idea, which generated and changed from its conception to its realization, depending on the people who followed it and funds which made it possible. Many people took part. Now I’m grateful to all of them that felt the need to be a part of it.
With this exhibition VD trying to communicate with children, which fascinated all of us with their painting talent, and showed us that we have a lot to learn to achieve their level of sincerity and spontaneity, making great art authorities humbly standing before works of these children. We will try to make that communication, the only way we know, by painting.
We are sure that these kids will ‘’read’’ us much better than any art critic, and that is why we made these paintings, as sincerely as possible, unbounded by any academism, but letting the childish out of us, since we know that artists are big children, and children are big artists.
